Case Number: 6:21-md-3006-RBD-DABTabsIntroductionOn August 10, 2021, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation centralized and transferred the Tasigna (Nilotinib) Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 3006, to this Court for pretrial proceedings before the Honorable Roy B. "Skip" Dalton, Jr., United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida. In doing so, the JPML Panel determined that the related actions generally allege that Novartis failed to appropriately warn that use of Tasigna may cause sever atherosclerotic injuries, and that Novartis concealed knowledge of Tasigna's unreasonably dangerous risks from plaintiffs, other consumers, and the U.S. medical community. The Panel also found that the MDL cases share issues of general causation, as well as Tasigna's labeling and regulatory history. In addition, the Panel concluded that centralization would "streamline pretrial proceedings; reduce duplicative discovery and conflicting pretrial obligations; prevent inconsistent pretrial rulings on Daubert challenges and other summary judgment motions; and conserve the resources of the parties, their counsel and the judiciary."
