Understanding civil rights, responsibilities of citizens, and the history and functions of our government strengthens our democracy and the rule of law. The court encourages schools to visit one of our courthouses to learn firsthand the work of the court from the judges and staffers. A court staffer can tailor a program to your students' needs. A field trip may include using interactive historical exhibits to learn the history of the court, the function of the court, and noteworthy cases and lawyers of the court; touring the library; walking through a courtroom; attending a question and answer session with a judge; and learning about the United States Marshals Service, the United States Attorney's Office, the Federal Defender's Office, the United States Probation Office, and the United States Pretrial Services Office.
Contact the Clerk’s Office for the division you wish to tour for more information.
